Studio 'e'xhibits presents the one-person show, “Norlynne Coar: UNFRAMED,” June 25 through June 27, 2021 at the studio 'e', 1022 Reed Street on the Southside, Studio E, Taos, NM. Opening reception takes place Friday, June 25th, 5-7 pm; and exhibit hours are Saturday and Sunday, June 26th and 27th, 12 – 6 pm. The show will include unframed paintings on canvas and paper, monotypes, archival prints and ceramic sculpture. Coar has been a peripatetic resident of Taos since 1979. Her work has been included in many shows over the years beginning with the first Spring Arts Festival in 1980 and the Clay & Fiber Gallery. She had a robust career in Los Angeles and San Francisco with galleries that exhibited her paintings and monotypes internationally and installed her work in a broad array of public and private environments. In the 1990s her work was also represented in Santa Fe where she was a participant in the popular Santa Fe Monothon. In 1992 both an abstract painting and monotype were included in the “Infinite Landscape” show curated by Sandra Lerner at the Stables Gallery. Her connection with the ocean, the horizon and sky is readily apparent in the work: Diving below the surface; gazing beyond the horizon and up into space; delving into the dark and toward the light compose much of her visual lexicon. In Taos, the sky is her ocean and the clouds her waves.
