This series started on an autumn afternoon in the woods outside Assisi, Italy. I like incorporating motion -- coming and going -- as well as utter stillness in still photographs.
The series continued on a blustery winter day on the coast of Southern California. Once we moved from the cliffs to the rocks by the waves, the wind had turned the umbrella inside out and ruined it.

Below are stylized photographs and paintings of a woman with red umbrella, in color and in black and white. Later I couldn't help myself but to paint some of these images. The process continues, like guilty pleasures.
Prints are shipped unmounted and unframed to save you shipping costs -- and allow you to frame the print locally to your personal taste. The paintings (cradled panels) ship flat.
